What's cookin' in Mrs. Sheff's 2nd grade class for 2017-2018?

Welcome, parents and students, to a fabulous new school year!
I am so blessed to join the Water of Life staff as your child's 2nd grade teacher. Our theme verse for this year fits in perfectly with me starting a new year at WOLCS. It is:

Isaiah 43:18-19: "Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing.
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
Behold I am doing a new thing."

Second grade at Water of Life will be a "new thing" for you and your students, and for me, too. I have 20 years' teaching experience in all grade levels, from preschool through adult learners. Each year and each grade level are different, and I can truly say I love them all. One of the benefits of being a teacher is that it's a fresh start every school year. I look forward to challenging our 2nd graders to develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime!

You might like to know a little bit about me. I am from the Midwest (Indiana) originally, though I have lived in Southern California for almost 30 years, so most consider me a native! I have 2 adult sons. One of them, T.J., is 25 and still lives at home, with plans of moving out in the next year. The other, Daniel, is married to Cori, another school teacher. They are parents to my 2 wonderful grandchildren, Chloe & Caleb, who are 5 and 4.

While the move to SoCal took me out of the country, you can't take that country out of me! I am totally fascinated by God's creation, from the galaxies and stars spinning, to creepy little "critters" crawling on the ground. I love oceans, mountains, hiking, gardening, animals, and lots of crafts. My classroom theme will be "Farm Life". You can see from the pictures below that I love animals. My home is a bit of a zoo with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, and 4 chickens!!!

I am called by God to use my enthusiasm and love of learning to inspire and educate others to seek and follow God's will with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. My goal is that by the end of the school year, your student can say, "This has been the BEST year of school so far,"

In His Grip and His Grace,

Mrs. Sheff
